Steve and Panda Bear are from Winnipeg, and they’ve been travelling and busking together for almost thirteen years. We met them here in Nanaimo, a west coast a city over 2300 kilometres from Winnipeg. After this picture was taken from across the street, Steve jokingly asked for $5 in return. Instead, we bought him a coffee, gave him and Panda the change, and sat down for a short chat. He had the bluest eyes I’d ever seen.

I wish I had time to go on hikes and learn new languages and bake cookies and take pictures of waterfalls and birds and people, and learn about what I’m interested in and talk to people that make me feel alive but I don’t because all I do is study and work and sleep
